DSB 2007 Meeting: Exhibitor Invitation

We warmly invite you to sunny Brisbane and sponsorship of:
  • The 6th Discovery Science and Biotechnology Meeting
  • The Stamford Plaza Hotel Brisbane, Qld, Australia
  • Wednesday May 30 - Friday June 1, 2007

DSB is a unique conference that brings together the top national scientists from different disciplines to share the latest developments in research and innovation. The aim is to fast track research in Australia, and the climate of technical and research excellence is ideal for commercial exhibitors to introduce new products. Registration is on-line and details may be found here; the Exhibition Prospectus may also be downloaded.

Multi-disciplinary Meeting:
The Discovery Science and Biotechnology meetings focus on the Integration of recent, cutting-edge research and leading technologies into a multi-disciplinary program, including the Core themes of:
• Proteomics • Genomics • Stem Cell Biology

Target Audience:
The target audience of DSB covers a number of disciplines all of which can be broadly summarised as molecular biosciences. It includes disciplines such as:

  • biomaterials
  • cancer
  • cell biology
  • genetics
  • immunology
  • molecular biology
  • proteomics
  • stem cell biology
  • tissue engineering

Expanded Workshop program in 2007
The program is expanded this year, with three sponsored workshops: Mutation, methylation and SNP detection using High Resolution Melt PCR, Sponsored by Corbett Research; Proteomics; and Transcription Profiling. The workshops will begin each day of the meeting, and are included in the full registration fee. Workshops are also stand-alone, and it is anticipated that at a cost of $25/Workshop, they will be very well attended, leading to higher audiences in the full DSB meeting. We anticipate that around 200 delegates will attend the meeting.

The program includes the following confirmed and international keynote speakers:

  • Ken Kosik, (Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology, UC Santa Barbara, USA)  Micro RNA in the brain
  • John Mattick, IMB, Queensland, Noncoding RNA in differentiation and development
  • Emanuel Petricoin, (Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, George Mason University, USA) Medical Proteomics and cancer
  • Dagmar Ringe, (Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Protein Crystallography, Brandeis University, USA) Structural enzymology and drug design
  • Kevin Shakesheff, (University of Nottingham, UK)  sponsored by Tissue Therapies Ltd and QUT Advanced Drug Delivery and Tissue Engineering
  • Michael Wilkinson, (Plant Sciences, University of Reading, UK) sponsored by Corbett Research Plant species identification using microsatellites, SNPs and high resolution melt analysis

These draw-card international presenters and an impressive list of national speakers from top departments and institutes will address issues in: Neurobiology, Proteomics, Genomics, Structural Biology, Tissue Engineering, Biomaterials, Commercialisation/Intellectual Property, Cancer, microRNA/gene knockdown, computational Biology and Stem cells.

National SPEAKERS include:
