Sun/Surf Safety...
How is your Surf Safety? Check here for tips and safety advice for Australian Beaches
Sun - Australian summer sun can be fierce
- In Summer, always protect your skin against sunburn with SPF factor 30+ sunscreen all over your body (including your feet!)
- some beaches have known dangers - rips, stingers etc. Check local knowledge and never swim alone
- wear a sun protective hat
- Keep a bottle of water with you in hot weather, particularly when bush-walking, on the beach etc. You can also dehydrate very quickly in the tropics - high humidity, high daytime temperatures and just normal activity. Always carry water with you, no matter your activity.
- Prevent sunburn - hire a Sunsuit to wear when snorkelling out on the Great Barrier Reef
NB: soft drinks and alcohol promote dehydration
